Park Smart!
Are you fed up with those parents who constantly park right outside the school gates? Well, the "Park Smart" campaign has some really good ideas to help discourage this.
The campaign was launched by the West of Scotland Road Safety Forum and uses posters which have been designed for display within schools as well as weatherproof banners for display on school railings.
The advice to parents/carers reinforces the
campaign's aims to deter drivers from parking too close to the school
entrance:-
Walk with your child to and from school and show them how to cross carefully
If you really have to drive your child to and from school, park well away
from the school, and NEVER on the zigzags
Consider other children who are walking to
and from school. Always look out for them.
The campaign has used children to get the message across by getting them to
put up posters and carry banners at the start and end of the school day
saying such things as: "PARKING AT THE SCHOOL GATES IS DANGEROUS AND
SELFISH!" and "ALWAYS REMEMBER TO PARK SMART"
Although this campaign is based in the West of Scotland, there are lots of
great ideas for making the school journey safer.
