''OKtoAsk''

Have a look at their new telephone helpline and website gateway for parents and families.

"OKtoAsk" is a gateway telephone helpline launched by Parenting Across Scotland (PAS) to make it easier for parents and families in Scotland to access the information and support they require. PAS research has found that:

- Parents in Scotland worry about how good a parent they are and most adults think it is harder to bring up children now than it was when they were young.
- Over two thirds of adults in Scotland are not aware of any organisations that provide advice and support to parents.
- Many people who call family support telephone helpline services in Scotland don't get through to someone who can help them the first time they call.

OKtoAsk recognises that parents and families mostly do a fantastic job but that we all struggle at times. Lack of sleep, dealing with difficult behaviour, worrying about children's well-being, surviving the teenage years, coping with family changes - all these things can wear us down. OKtoAsk is promoting the message that asking for help is a sign of strength not weakness and parents and families in Scotland can call the helpline whether they just want a listening ear or more specific information.
