Safe Routes to Schools Newsletter

This newsletter is published twice a year and is a free resource.  Have a look at what is in the latest edition.

This project is co-ordinated by Sustrans which is the UK’s leading sustainable transport charity, working on practical projects so people can choose to travel in ways that benefit their health and the environment.

Here are some highlights from the summer newsletter:

  •   “Change Your World” – if everyone drove just one journey less a week, car traffic would reduce by 10 per cent.  This traffic-stopping statistic is at the heart of this challenge for 2008 when people commit to just doing that.  You’ve not got long to pledge your swap and be entered into a prize draw”
  •   “Rewarding Habits” – how to keep school travel activities fresh and pupils incentivised.
  •   A new guide to using pedometers
  •   Online journeys teach road sense at www.streetsense2.com and www.a2bsafely.com
  •   The Cycle Friendly School award for Scottish primary schools.
