SUCCESS STORIES III – a new catalogue and website

At a time when parents are being blamed for the things that go wrong in Scottish education – think truancy, badly behaved children and aggressive parents at meetings – the Scottish Parent Teacher Council has joined forces with a range of partners to identify some of the successful activities that teachers and pupils engage in on a daily basis.

Success Stories III is the third catalogue in an occasional series that records these activities. We think that Success Stories is different to other initiatives of this type as it is not themed and embraces a range of ideas from all school sectors – nursery, special, primary and secondary. Each project is designed in a reader-friendly way to interest and inspire and has handy contact details if you want to find out more. We like the Success Stories projects because they don’t concentrate on educational jargon such as targets and outcomes!

The catalogue was sent to all Scottish schools at the end of 2004 and should be available for parents and teachers. We also have a website at www.sptc.info/successstories and this is open to new submissions. If you have a project in school that you would like to tell us about, then check it out.
