see me .... I'm a person. Just like you.

According to a new survey almost half of school pupils aged 12-18 would remain silent if they had a mental health problem. The survey was carried out by "see me", the national campaign to stop stigma and discrimination towards people with mental health problems.

The results of the research have been launched alongside the new young people's strand of the "see me" campaign.

The survey showed that although there is an awareness amongst school pupils about mental ill-health, there is a lack of knowledge about who can help if they are concerned about themselves or someone else.
The young people's campaign aims to raise awareness and improve attitudes. It includes television advertising as well as posters and leaflets. Materials are being distributed through schools amongst other groups.
The "see me" website also has a special site designed to provide young people with information, ideas and tips. The address is: www.justlikeme.org.uk
All materials are free of charge and can be ordered via the website.
