Generation Science
From Shetland to Stranraer! The UK's largest touring science education programme is touring Scotland's schools from January to June 2008.
Generation Science is part of the Edinburgh International Science Festival and puts on shows and workshops to inspire and nourish children's curiosity. They use exciting demonstrations and unusual equipment such as liquid nitrogen, lego robots and an inflatable planetarium to illuminate areas of science, making them easier to understand.
All the shows are linked to the curriculum and supported by additional teaching resources.
The shows and workshops are fun and interactive - where else could children solder their own circuit board or launch their own rocket?!
The workshops cover the following topics, (for primary schools only, at the moment):-
- Our Living World: Hands-on animal encounters; the bones, organs and body show and the show about bees.
- Our Material World: The Sun, Moon and Earth; a show about recycling; wacky waterworks; Starlab & Spaceshow and even "Dr Bunhead's Bogey Factory"!
- Our Physical World: A Make & Keep Mechanical Workshop; light, electricity and renewable energy; a rocket workshop; and an Exploding Energy Show.
