Teacher Strike Ballot
Teachers are threatening to go on strike over plans to raise the retirement age. The two main teaching unions, SSTA and EIS are to ballot their members to gauge their opinion on going on strike.
Judith Gillespie, SPTC Development Manager commented in the "Edinburgh Evening News" and "The Herald" that while she is sympathetic to teachers' feelings , she wants a strike to be avoided.
"We are never happy at the prospect of teachers going on strike, because it hugely disrupts children's education. I just hope that there is a way short of striking to resolve it. I hope they find an alternative." Read the article in full at: http://edinburghnews.scotsman.com
