''Motorists driven round bend by two speed limits''
On Monday 29th August, the "Edinburgh Evening News" reported that motorists driving near Broughton Primary School were left baffled by two different speed limits near the school.
Judith Gillespie, SPTC's Development Manager was asked to comment and she stressed the need for coherency in road signs in areas with a high density of children.
She also said: "The council must be absolutely clear that during the school term, a 20 mph speed limit must operate. It's important to mark the difference between 20mph and 30mph when in a school area. It's haphazard of the council to have the signs like this. The message must be clear in order to save lives. It's central to identify and clearly mark times when people should go slowly."
The "Evening News" reported that the 30mph sign is on the back of a flashing 20mph sign, operational during school hours.
